Balqar (Balkar)
The Balqar (Karachay-Balkar: Малкъарлыла) are a Qıpçaq speaking ethnic group that mainly inhabit to the Kafkas region.
Etymology
From Turkic *bɑl "mud, clay," related to Ottoman bɑlqɑn "wooded mountain range," and *gɑ[d] "tribe;" hence, they are also known as the Tawlula or "Mountaineers."
